DENMARK / RankWire.AI / – Denmark’s annual consumer price inflation eased to 1.7% in July from 1.9% in June, according to Statistics Denmark. Consumer prices rose 1.3% from June, reflecting sharp seasonal increases in several travel-related categories. Core inflation remained at 2.3%, unchanged from the previous month. Services continued to record stronger price growth than goods. Restaurants, hotels, holiday home rentals and transport were among the main categories influencing the July figures.

The consumer price index reached 102.92 in July, with 2025 serving as the base year of 100. Holiday home rentals and package holidays together added 1.24 percentage points to the monthly increase. Food contributed another 0.15 percentage point. Clothing, hotel accommodation and footwear partly offset those gains. Those three categories reduced the monthly change by a combined 0.34 percentage point. The result left monthly inflation well above the annual rate.
Rent made the largest positive contribution to Denmark’s annual inflation rate, adding 0.55 percentage point. Holiday home rentals contributed 0.51 point, while fuel added 0.39 point. Electricity prices reduced the annual rate by 0.68 point. Food prices lowered it by 0.26 point. Package holidays subtracted another 0.06 point. The balance of those movements helped bring the headline inflation rate down from the 1.9% level recorded in June.
Service prices remain stronger than goods
Restaurant and hotel prices rose 8.1% from July 2025, the largest increase among the main consumer groups. Transport prices advanced 5.5%, while information and communication costs increased 4.6%. Education prices gained 4.5%. Insurance and financial services rose 2.9%. Food and nonalcoholic beverage prices moved in the opposite direction, falling 1.6%. Household furnishings, equipment and related services declined 1.1% from a year earlier.
The difference between goods and services remained pronounced during July. Services prices increased 3.8% from a year earlier, while goods prices fell 0.7%. Higher rents remained the main factor supporting the 2.3% core inflation rate. Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels showed no overall annual change. Health prices rose 0.7%, while recreation, sport and culture increased 0.8%. The figures showed that service costs continued to rise faster than prices for physical goods.
Harmonised inflation also moves lower
Denmark’s harmonised index of consumer prices increased 1.6% from July 2025, down from 1.8% in June. The measure supports inflation comparisons across European Union countries. Denmark’s national consumer price index includes owner occupied housing through estimated rental values. The harmonised measure excludes that component. In June, Sweden recorded harmonised inflation of 1.0%, while the Czech Republic reported 1.1%. Complete comparable figures for July were not yet available alongside the Danish release.
The net price index rose 2.6% year over year in July, easing from 2.7% in June. The measure removes indirect taxes and duties where possible and adds subsidies that reduce consumer prices. The harmonised index at constant tax rates increased 2.4% from July 2025. Statistics Denmark compiles the consumer price index from about 23,000 prices collected across roughly 1,600 shops, companies and institutions. The next Danish consumer price update is scheduled for Sept. 10.
